It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven global championships have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was removed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
