Two Hundred Twenty-Two Premier League Scores, 325 Global Appearances

Wythenshawe Vets Over-35s are situated in south Manchester and compete in the Cheshire-based Veterans Division Premier Division.

The squad list this campaign features 9 former top-flight players, with a combined over 1,800 elite appearances.

This star-studded squad also boasts over 220 Premier League goals and 325 global appearances.

They feature Papiss Cisse, who netted thirty-seven goals in over 100 appearances for Newcastle United after joining them for £9m from German league club Freiburg in 2012.

Cisse made his debut for Wythenshawe in their most recent home game versus defending title holders their rivals and scored every one of the six scores in a six-two victory - featuring a half-hour opening period triple.

The team for this season also includes ex- professionals such as England and Anfield forward Emile Heskey, Hull City and Burnley winger George Boyd, Toffees striker Oumar Niasse, Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa, City duo Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha and Premier League title victors Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.

Together, the former Premier League footballers have won 15 major honors and moved for combined transfer sums of around £123 million.

Famous Names and Global Players

Stephen Ireland started playing for the side during preseason this summer through close mate and current Wythenshawe teammate Blake Norton, and the ex- Republic of Ireland midfielder then invited additional former professionals, who all play in a midweek nine-a-side game, to participate.

Former Senegalese forward Niasse, who netted 12 goals in 65 top-flight games for Everton and even now goes to their home games, also made his first appearance versus the opposition - who are located in the city and use an Everton training kit as their uniform.

"A mate Stephen Ireland said 'join and have a game, it's a laugh'," commented Niasse.

"Then he told me we were playing a team from the city and the surprise I had when I noticed them wearing Everton kits - I thought this is wrong for me!

"If you still enjoy the game and you know you can still do it, wherever you can play, what are you going to do?

"The people who come and watch are happy and to give someone's day if they watch us competing there and to pose us queries - it's more like the joy of us getting somewhere we can play, with organisation of course."

So great is the bench strength at Wythenshawe, Niasse made his debut at full-back.

"That's a bit unusual but then, I love running and just go forward - I'm not defending that much," he added.

"I warn my defender 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to continue running.

"The movement is what I'm seeking. It's good fun."

'Surreal Scenario

In addition to the forward's 6 scores on debut, Ireland has scored 8 in 3 games for Wythenshawe, while George Boyd hit 5 on his first appearance and Joleon Lescott, a defender by trade, scored a hat-trick in one match as a striker.

The team are top of the Premier Division with 3 victories from 3 and a goal difference of plus nineteen.

One opponent, 38, who features on the flank for Collegiate OB, came up against former Wigan full-back Maynor Figueroa on Sunday - and had to explain his nine-year-old boy who Heskey was.

Figueroa has played at two global tournaments for his country, in as well as playing in over two hundred Premier League games.

"It was going round like a rumor they had these former top-flight stars," remarked Barrow.

"I think I was a little awestruck facing him to be honest.

"Also Heskey got on and he's got over 60 England caps.

"Our side competed well for a solid twenty mins but then we had a player sent off and it was hard.

"Our group literally haven't stopped talking about it - I was phoning my mother and sibling on the way home.

"They were all really nice, shaking our hands after the game - it was like playing a group of regular fellas.

"Now we are eager for the second match."
